Canine Fitness/Conditioning is a workout with the help of specific exercises for healthy dogs, to improve muscle mass and strength, general fitness level, coordination and balance. Better physical preparation with a balanced, fit body can contribute to injury prevention during activities should they be training, competing, working or just fetching balls and playing with other dogs.
A structural analysis examines the angulation of the limbs, the topline, the size and overall shape of the dog, the physical strengths and weaknesses as well as the relationship to movement & performance from many angles, in various stable positions. Dogs carry 60-70% of their body weight on their front end so a well-balanced body means that all 4 feet are carrying their necessary load. Injury can be influenced by the dogs' structure.
A gait analysis examines the movement of the dog at a walk and a trot. This examines the workload for each leg, looks for abnormalities caused by imbalance, both structural and injury driven.
A fitness program is a group of select exercises geared toward the physical activity needs of your dog. These exercises are recommended based upon the results of the structural and gait analysis, our discussion on your dogs' activity level (sport/active pet/family dog) and the time you have to dedicate to working with your dog.
You DON'T! Our goal is to make this accessible for everyone! We will work with you and items you may have already, such as stairs, logs, blocks, etc. We can be very creative and think outside the box!
There are many but my personal favorites are the potential for injury prevention, peak performance and bonding with your dog (this is my very favorite benefit).
Absolutely! Everything can be done via video calls!
You will receive a full report on your dog's structure & gait analysis, a weekly schedule of the recommended exercises, detailed instruction information on the exercises, 2 private training sessions to review the exercises ($160 value!) and FREE coaching for 3 months!
Our process begins with you completing a Training Intake Form (be as detailed as you can!) that will be emailed to you shortly after we schedule our appointment. Next, I will meet with you in person to review the Training Intake Form, gather any needed additional information, take static position photos of your dog in the sit and down and take videos of your dog in the walk and trot.
This information then gets studied for gait analysis and structural analysis - your report is then generated. Using all the data now gathered a detailed weekly calendar of exercises is created.
Our next scheduled visit is for the review of the Gait Analysis, Structural Analysis and Detailed Weekly Calendar. We will then run through the exercises to ensure you are comfortable working these with your dog.
After that we will have 2 private lessons available to review exercise results and future goals. You will then also have access to 3 FREE months of coaching!
The process from initial visit to the generation of all reports may take up to 3 weeks to complete.
