4-Week Intensive Board & Train Program

It consists of multiple daily training sessions customized to the owner's behavioral needs of the dog.  Every dog is different, the wishes of every owner are different therefore our program is designed around the information our trainer receives from both owner and dog at the Training Consultation.  We want you and your dog to be successful and, toward that end, you will receive support from us for the life of the dog.

Your dog will come home to live with the trainer for 4 weeks.  The trainer will work the dog through its customized program for 3 weeks. On the 4th week, the owner will be scheduled to attend 2 private training sessions (included in package price) with the trainer to learn the dog's behaviors, training techniques and reward system.  After the dog has completed its 4th week it goes home with the owner and a final private session (included in package price) would be scheduled for about 2 weeks after.  This will allow the owner and dog to settle back in and put the program into place at home.  The owner will also receive regular photos/videos and updates as the dog moves through the customized program.  

Leaving their home environment can be a stressful time for a dog.  It may take them a few days to decompress before we can begin their training.  Seeing their humans during the program can actually stall their progress because the dog has to "reset" each time.  Because of this visits are not allowed.  We do send periodic updates, pictures and videos so you are a part of the process.  

 We do not use them in our program.  We know that pet dog behaviors can be taught in a less aversive manner.  We adhere to the LIMA principle - Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive system of training.  

There is a common misconception that, if you "send your dog away to be trained", you won't have to do anything when the dog comes home.  This is absolutely false!  You will need to continue to maintain your dog's behaviors for life.  If they don't use it they will lose the desire to do it.  We place a strong foundation for positive behaviors with your dog, it is your responsibility to reinforce these.  Coming back home is the most critical time as you are resetting your dog's expectations in a place that they were already comfortable acting in a certain manner.  Dog training to change behavior is essentially resetting the expectations of both dog and owner.  

We use a system of marker/clicker training (positive reinforcement).  This is the fastest and most clear route to teach a dog any behavior.  It is very black and white for the dog and the owner.  We also may use other modalities such as Luring, Shaping and Capturing.  

Your dog will be boarding in a home environment, not a dog kennel, therefore your dog must be familiar with staying in a crate, be flea and tick free and be current on all vaccinations including Rabies, Distemper, Parvo and Kennel Cough (proof from a licensed veterinarian required) prior to coming into training.  Any other requirements would be dependent upon the training and will be discussed with you at the Training Consultation. 

The cost of our program is $950 and includes 3 private lessons, 2 while the dog is in the program and 1 about 2 weeks after the dog goes home.
